Swedish massage therapy is a relaxing, flowing massage intended to increase blood flow, help release tension you are holding in your muscles, help your muscles recover and heal faster, it reduces stress, strengthens your immune system, and can aid greatly with reducing pain you may be experiencing at a muscle or tissue level. Your massage therapist will consult with you to find out where you may be experiencing pain or need focused work, and blend that into an overall massage.
Your massage therapist will work with long strokes, applying a light to medium pressure to help with the tension release and aid your immune and lymphatic system in releasing toxins. Swedish massage also may include tapotement, or repeated quick hand movements drumming on your larger muscle groups.
Typically massage oils are used to help the therapist glide their hands across your muscles in a fluid motion and the oils will have essential oil scents to assist you with even deeper relaxation with the benefits of aroma therapy. If you have sensitivity to scents, please advise your therapist when you arrive.
